Another edition of Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week comes to a close and it is with a sinking heart that I realize that not one single collection has made my hair stand on end or left me breathless. A few pieces stood out and really shone with creativity, but on the whole, there was a lack of heart, of verve, of magic and showmanship. Where is Spanish fashion headed? Is the crisis really hitting so hard as to create this lack of courage and spirit in the designers? I long for the days past when true tailoring and talent blinded us on the Spanish catwalks. I remember looking forward to seeing the proposals from the emerging fashion designers during El Ego. Now it just makes me cringe. 54th Edition of Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week
Summer finally seems to be remitting somewhat and that can only mean one thing: the whirlwind of international fashion weeks. As so much attention is paid to NY, London, Milan and Paris, I’m going to focus on Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week which started this Friday 16th. 53 Edition of Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week
Finishing two weeks of food and restaurants, it’s back to the fashion grind for the 53rd edition of Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week. Starting from tomorrow, I’ll be posting photos and reviewing the collections, so come check out the action. I will always bemoan the lack of really good breakfast options here in Barcelona; thank all heavenly things from above that don’t exist, that Café Federal offers excellent options for the most important meal of the day. Madrid caters to those in need of a good wake-up call and every time I go, I manage to find more and more places dishing out really great breakfasts.
Any Excuse to Get Away to Madrid
What better way to spend a long weekend than to escape away to the delights of Madrid? My love for the capital just seems to grow every time I set foot there. The myriad options and cultural activities are so wide and varied that there is hardly a minute to lose. Although we have a CaixaForum here in Barcelona and the building is beautiful, I never seem to get enough of the venue in Madrid. The wall filled with plants and the space-age, metallic staircase are just two of the lovely quirks that the building in Madrid presents.
