It’s not every Friday that I start the day gracing the cover of a magazine. Què Fem is the supplement magazine of one of Barcelona’s most important newspapers, La Vanguardia. Accompanied by Jenny Germer of I Love Muffins and Nacho Toribio of External Reference, the three of us spent the day mapping out some of Barcelona’s most interesting spots.

Festivalet at Miscelanea
As the slow-food movement slowly starts to trickle into Barcelona’s consciousness, so too the trend for slow-fashion. There seem to be more and more fairs and fashion events focusing on those who produce hand-made, quality fashion items. Either due to the crisis, the growing sensation of frustration at mass-consumerism or a need to be more creative, exquisite pieces seem to be popping up all over the city.
Weekend 17-19 December
Starting today Friday 17th of December, a mere 9 days away from Christmas, and continuing all weekend are a myriad of fashion festivals and events. Spoilt for choice, it hardly seems possible to have so much packed into one weekend. It also seems impossible to be able to spend so much money on all the glorious items that will be on sale by independent designers. Sigh!
Lolita Bakery in Barcelona
Cupcake shops seem to be popping up all over the city in a very short time! Recently inaugurated, Lolita Bakery is the newest addition to this popular trend. Located in the Borne neighbourhood, the space is filled with vintage items, with a clear trend towards 50s decorating.
I Love Muffins at Festivalet
This past weekend, Festivalet was held at Dudua’s new location. There was a festive feeling in the air, with coloured streamers brightening up the small street. A bit on the small side, at least it was a great opportunity to see the new pieces by handcraft designers.
