Often times, little packages contain interesting proposals and such is the case with the DHUB’ s ground floor exhibition space. It seems that the lack of meters is a benefit, as the shows in this area are concise, didactic and entertaining. A promise is a promise and after a few years’ wait, the Maria Brillas’ Wardrobe by Pedro Rodríguez finally has its’ moment in the spotlight.

New Fashion Column for Barcelona Metropolitan
This month of March marks the start of my monthly fashion column with Barcelona Metropolitan magazine. Whether you grab a copy on the street or download the PDF version, be sure to check out my little piece on the upcoming “¿Qué me Pongo?” exhibition inaugurating this Wednesday 9th at the DHUB in Borne. This show curated by Miren Arzalluz about the clothing relationship between the Spanish couturier Pedro Rodríguez and his client, Maria Brillas, is sure to be impressive. I have been invited to give a guided tour of the exhibition on April 13th. There will be much more information coming next week.
El Ajuar de María
There seems to be a growing trend for beautiful, dark and moody china which adds a touch of simmering strangeness to the table. I can’t stand eating from boring, white plates or repetitious Ikea plates. I also get an awful turn of stomach from matching plates. So it’s a relief to find that a few small companies are slowly churning out some different options.
Papel Pintat
In a world ever more fast paced and frenetic, it was nice to slow down for awhile and enjoy the opening of a small but very inspiring exhibition. Taking into consideration that people move countries and houses more often than in past decades, decorative elements for homes have become less of a priority. In the special case of wallpaper, it has been restaurants, shops, hotels and offices that have really taken to the idea of using this decorative element. This new show puts the spotlight firmly on the new types of wallpapers that have appeared in recent years and demonstrates the radical changes that this interior design item has undergone since it’s first appearances.
Laboratorio de Fabricación
Quite a crowd gathered yesterday evening for the inauguration of the new DHUB exhibition, Fabrication Laboratory. Although I am not very technologically-inclined, this show is a sight to behold. The really great thing about attending inaugural events is the possibility to take photographs.
