Le Cucine Mandarosso started a few years ago as a quiet venture, an Italian restaurant tucked away on a side street near the ubiquitous Palau de la Música. Their perfect oven-baked pasta was soon a runaway success, as well as their scrumptious desserts. Run by some of the friendliest people in Barcelona, no matter how busy things get, the boys and girls at Le Cucine always have a smile and a great recommendation to make.

Victoria’s Cakes
It’s not often that I feel the urge to make the pilgrimage to neighbourhoods above Avenida Diagonal. Call me lazy, call me close-minded but I usually find everything I need in Sant Antoni, Borne, Eixample, Raval and el Gótico. So I prepared my excursion kit and headed up to a new place that has been open for around two months: Victoria’s Cakes.
Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes in Barcelona
It’s not often that we get to enjoy the pure magic of having a V&A exhibition here in Barcelona. And not just any exhibition… Opening to the eager masses this past October 5th and continuing until January 15th, Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes – When Art Dances with Music spans the 20-year history of Serge Diaghilev’s eponymous dance company.
Sometimes You Need to Relax
Some much needed rest and relaxation was in order after this strange summer, so I decided to search for a lovely rural house to spend a few days. We needed to find somewhere relatively close, as we don’t have a car and weren’t in the mood to rent one. After sifting through loads of webs that were heavy on the rural and low on relaxation, we decided on Can Caponet.
Vienna or Sevilla?
After weeks of waiting to get away on holidays, it was finally time to jet off to Vienna. Unfortunately, we landed at the beginning of a massive heatwave. I have only ever been this hot before when visiting Sevilla a few summers back. With record temperatures of 45ºC, it was impossible to catch a moment of respite and the breeze that did blow from time to time was oven-hot. Practically nowhere in Vienna is conditioned to deal with extreme heat, no air-conditioning to be able to cool down. I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy to return to Barcelona.
