As the fashion world slithers it’s sneaky tentacles into ever-broadening areas, (sometimes with good results, other times, well…), literature seemed to be safe and off the radar due to it’s passé demeanour, much too low-key for the flash and dazzle of seasonal trends. So could it even be possible to join the two areas? This is not about books written about fashion, this is fashion inspired by books.

Passejada amb Barret 2011
Do you ever wonder what it was like to always wear a hat with every outfit and follow a strict code of correct conduct regarding this item? If you’re missing a bygone era, can never seem to find occasions to bust out your fancy hat creations or are just curious, this Sunday 8th of May, at 12:00 noon, the Passejada amb Barret is taking place. Stroll with a Hat, now in it’s seventh edition is a great way to celebrate your passion for hats. Gather together with like-minded people and have a chat while strolling down Rambla de Catalunya.
Festivalet at Miscelanea
As the slow-food movement slowly starts to trickle into Barcelona’s consciousness, so too the trend for slow-fashion. There seem to be more and more fairs and fashion events focusing on those who produce hand-made, quality fashion items. Either due to the crisis, the growing sensation of frustration at mass-consumerism or a need to be more creative, exquisite pieces seem to be popping up all over the city.
Weekend 17-19 December
Starting today Friday 17th of December, a mere 9 days away from Christmas, and continuing all weekend are a myriad of fashion festivals and events. Spoilt for choice, it hardly seems possible to have so much packed into one weekend. It also seems impossible to be able to spend so much money on all the glorious items that will be on sale by independent designers. Sigh!
Inauguration of Montpalau’s Collection at Palau Robert
Today is the inauguration of the Montpalau’s textile exhibit at Palau Robert. I’ll be there in the evening and will have a longer post during the week. The show will be open to the public on Tuesday. See you there!
