Meatpacking Bistrot

New York-style is slowly creeping into Barcelona consciousness and one of the newest kid on the block is the Meatpacking Bistrot and Café. With gorgeous settings and a killer menu, they are packing quite the culinary punch.

The Meatpacking Bistrot makes the concept of perfect seem underrated. The mix of lighting and pony-skin chairs, the plush sofas, the white tiles, the shelves of books, every single detail has a purpose and meaning. Each aspect gathers together in the perfect symphony, a classy atmosphere to sit and have a great bite to eat. The only downside is the amount of icky rich women, tanned to an orange crisp, snickering away while they talk about their fabulous lives.

The Bistrot menu is slightly more varied than the Café, offering seven starter options, six main courses, six sides and four desserts. There are also several daily specials; I had the pastrami wrap and almost died. It has been years since I last had one and this hit the spot. The cheddar was thick and full of flavour, the meat was thinly sliced and the honey-mustard was divine.

There are two burgers on the menu: the Meatpacking and the Tuna. These will both become contenders for Barcelona’s top ten best burgers. And then… there were the fries. Last time I had fries this good was in France. Pure and utter perfection. This is French fry heaven.

The other good thing? The price. Two main courses, a side of fries and a big bottle of water were just under 20 euros. An in-between cost that doesn’t leave one penniless or hungry, as the portions are on the generous side.

Around the corner and connected by way of passage filled with photos and mirrors is the Meatpacking Café. The menu is even more concise, with a few sandwiches thrown in. The décor is the cute, little sister of the main eating area. Cosy and filled with eye-catching details, the space almost seems like something from an old ship. I can’t decide which I prefer!

I rest calm now, my Bermuda triangle is complete. Picnic a bike ride away in Borne, Federal near my home in Sant Antoni and now the Meatpacking Bistrot, just a bus ride away.

Coincido en que la comida es buena (aunque me gustaría probar los desayunos), aunque la atención del encargado del local me parece que deja mucho que desear.

Nice attention to detail with the design, very similar to the style of Federal. I will leave any comments about the food until I’ve had the chance to sample it myself.

the food is awesome, but not cheap, the place is amazing in details and general taste of style and a fresh breath of air within all the look alike places. loving it!
