Oh, the smell of freshly baked bread in the morning… the afternoon… and even the evening! Crusto was one of the first in the wave of new-style bakeries to hit Barcelona and they are one of the best. Aiming to change the perception of this humble food stuff, the Crusto staff fire up their ovens everyday, eager to present weird and wonderful bread to the public.
Crusto is warm and inviting, filled with luscious smells and good things to eat. There are a handful of tables and bright, cheerful chairs to sit and relax for a while. From jams to little snacks in cute packages, smoothies and juices, coffees and teas, this bakery is a haven of pleasant, happy feelings and sensations.
The selection is wide and varied and sumptuous and delicious and… The classic baguette, so crispy on the outside and butter-soft on the inside. Brioches studded with raisins or tiny, glistening chocolate chips. Brownies boasting huge nuts, tarts made with chocolate or fruit. Every type of bread imaginable, filled with nuts or dried tomatoes, threaded with onions slivers or topped with cheese. The focaccias are heaving with luscious ingredients. It’s impossible to avoid the temptation of sitting down for a bite and taking some of the Crusto magic home.
Bar Cañete offers Crusto bread with some of their dishes and I really can’t imagine a better duo. With so many glorious food options on Calle Valencia and nearby Enrique Granados, there’s no excuse for not visiting this area. Stop for a moment at Crusto, maybe I’ll be at one of the tables, having a quick bite.

Me gusta más el de la calle Muntaner, es algo más grande y se puede comer de menú.
