Over near Estación de Sants, in a very strange location, a sunshiny corner holds the treasure that is Tarte & Quiche. This tiny restaurant was conceived just this year and up until now, I have never found the moment to try out the delicious treats. Citing sustainability has their main concern, there is little wastage of water and electricity, all their paper items, such as napkins, are recycled and their ingredients are locally sourced and organic when possible.
Tarte & Quiche follows along the typical Barcelona interiors aesthetic, presenting a clean, minimal space with two walls covered in colourful, abstract wallpaper. The terrace is the key area complete with white sun umbrellas, wooden tables and comfortable seats. Maybe lacking in character, the food more than makes up for what is lacking in design.
As the name suggests, this is all about the salty quiches and sweet tarts. There is a good selection to cover every sort of personal taste preferences. The vitrine is filled to bursting and it takes a while to be able to chose. The restaurant proposes French classics and believe that eating “fast” does not necessarily have to mean eating “bad”. The quiches and tarts are available for take-away, which is probably the best option, especially for a Sunday afternoon.
