What Remains is Future – Pasafad

The 29th edition of Modafad was held this past weekend. This twice yearly event consists of Pasafad, a catwalk show of emerging designers and Merkafad, a one-day showroom offering the possibility to meet the designers participating in Modafad and buy their creations. This time around, the venue was the DHUB, which on the one hand was very beautiful, but on the other hand was cramped and its’ cobbled terrace made more than one model stumble.

I was lucky to once again snag a front row seat, but due to the blinding spotlights, snapping photos quickly became a nightmare. The evening started out with a collective catwalk show of the different participants. Chuso Ordi was the illustrator in charge of the imagery and posters which were shown throughout the evening.

The three winners of the last Pasafad show were next in line, showcasing their new collections. Juan Carlos Rodríguez Morante, Diana Dorado and Laura Dieguez all had their turn along the cobbles.

The winners this time around were David Cabra for best menswear collection, Flavia Duarte for best womens’ collection and a special mention for Beatriz Vázquez’s creativity. Have to hold our breathe until the next edition to see what these three young designers pull out of their sleeves.
