Broad.cat Dual

While the States and Canada sat waiting to see the premiere of the 6th and last season of Lost, over here in Europe, specifically in Barcelona, we had the great opportunity to attend the first edition of Broad.cat Dual. Where does Lost tie in with this event? Well, one of the speakers was Frankie De Leonardis, director of the Lost promo for Cuatro Television.

The evening started out with Oscar González, a burgeoning talent in motion graphics. Adrián Rodríguez, content editor for Broad.cat, was in charge of directing Oscar’s interview. Between nerves and jokes, Oscar was able to explain the type of work that he carries out.

Considering it was a week night and a bit off the beaten track, Escola Bau in Poblenou, it was a full house. The space had limited seating capacity, yet 120 people managed to squeeze in, some of which stood during the entire event. Frankie De Leonardis was the star attraction, giving a curious speech, “Drinking from all sorts of resources”. Extremely insightful, his key points are applicable to all sorts of disciplines, not only motion graphics. For those of you that missed this great moment or weren’t carrying a pen, here is a brief outline:

CREAR

1.“Producir algo de la nada”

Dios creó el mundo.

2. Realizar algo partiendo de las propias capacidades.

3. Establecer, fundar.

4. Instituir un nuevo empleo, puesto de trabajo, cargo, etc.

5. Producir una obra literaria, artística, etc.

6. Idear, construir.

7. prnl. Imaginarse, formarse una imagen en la mente.

DIOS

Somos una creación, vivimos en una creación y creamos.

Queda claro:

1. Todo es creación

2. Hasta una copia es una creación.

3. Lo original es diferente.

4. Lo diferente separa.

5. Queremos separarnos.

6. Queremos estar separados junto con otros que se separan hacia el mismo lado que nosotros.

7. Es imposible separarnos.

JUNTOS

Vivimos en contacto con otros y con OTRO.

El entorno forma parte de quien somos.

SENTIDOS

La percepción nos une.

Cuantas más sentidos afecte un contenido, mayor será el impacto de ese contenido.

CONTAMINAR

“Alterar la forma o contenido por la influencia de otro”

Para contaminarse hay que estar expuesto y dispuesto a absorber información.

No existe la ósmosis intelectual.

ENTORNO

Creamos a partir del entorno.

Ampliamos el entorno y ganamos diversidad.

PROCESAR

“Someter una sustancia a un proceso de transformación”

Las ideas tienen que nutrirse de contenidos y estos contenidos necesitan descomponerse.

Esta “digestión” no es instantánea, tiene un tiempo de transformación.

REELABORAR

“Volver a idear o inventar algo complejo”

Reproducir algo como nos llega no es ningún logro, la creación implica modificar.

DISFRUTAR

Deleitarse, gozar, sentir, satisfacción.

The Broad.cat Dual project will be held every two months and plans to narrow the gap between emerging talents and established professionals. Dual Mentoring is now available, uniting people who are struggling with their initial ideas with the experts that can lead them along the start of a rocky path in their careers.

It’s now our turn to see the first season 6 episode of Lost, because of course, we’re not going to wait. But we will have to wait and see who will appear at the next Broad.cat Dual.
