Paulo Salinas’ Shoes and Boots

Sequestered in a lofty warehouse-style workshop, Paulo Salinas whiles away the hours creating and constructing beautiful shoes and boots. When I mean beautiful, I actually mean lust-worthy. Self-taught in the art of cordwaining, he treats and works with leather to cobble up sculptural shoe forms.

This is one of the most perfect boot heels I have seen in my life. I first met Paulo at the past edition of Zapato Rojo, back in December 2009. He invited me to come along and visit his workshop, which is exactly what I did. The space appears like a scene from a film, every detail is given loving attention. It’s no small wonder that his shoe creations are so exquisite.

He’s gearing up with a web soon to be launched and his shoes will be finding their way into various stores in Barcelona. He is already working on his spring-summer collection which will be ready any day now.

I can’t wait to get my hands, or should I say my feet, on his wood-block heeled boots.
