Barcelona’s Textile Museum

I hadn’t had the chance to go up to DHUB Pedralbes since Barcelona’s Textile and Clothing Museum had been moved there. So this past Saturday, I managed to make the journey up there. The original collection of clothes has been scaled down; I imagine that some of the pieces have been placed in storage to avoid damage. This will be a temporary abode until the new DHUB will be finished in the Glòries area in 2012. The building itself is magnificent and also holds the Museum of Decorative Arts and the Museum of Ceramics.

Paulo Salinas’ Shoes and Boots

Sequestered in a lofty warehouse-style workshop, Paulo Salinas whiles away the hours creating and constructing beautiful shoes and boots. When I mean beautiful, I actually mean lust-worthy. Self-taught in the art of cordwaining, he treats and works with leather to cobble up sculptural shoe forms.

Belle Paris

Could there possibly be anything better than spending a romantic New Years’ Eve in Paris? Off the top of my head, nothing comes to mind. I spent six days there this past week and it was as beautiful as ever, but extremely cold. I just wanted to share some of the great photos I was able to snap during my trip.

Taboo

Taboo is a top-notch event not to be missed. Lasting around two and a half hours, the time just flies by. It is a good idea to arrive quite early and be able to snag a table. The Apolo is beautifully transformed into a lovely hall, all filled with tables and candle light and the place itself lends a certain magic to the night.
