Yesterday saw the beginning of 080 Barcelona Fashion Week. I’ll be viewing the various catwalks throughout the three days and I’ll be posting photos and comments on a variety of the shows. I’m also feeling very generous, so this will all be in English and Spanish for the first time. Welcome to the world of “fashion week madness”…
Ayer comenzó el 080 Barcelona Fashion. Tengo la gran suerte de poder asistir a los desfiles durante los próximos 3 días y colgaré fotos y comentarios sobre algunos de las pasarelas. Es la primera vez que traduzco Sticky Fingers BCN a castellano, así que, a disfrutar los que siempre os quejáis. Bienvenidos al mundo loco de la semana de moda de Barcelona…
I wasn’t able to get over to Plaza España until around 20:00, due to other duties in my life, so the first show I saw was Juan Antonio Ávalos. Let’s just say that I’m going to gloss over the designers that didn’t exactly float my boat. Loosely based around the old Mazinger Z cartoon, the colours were bright: vivid blues, tomato reds, mustard yellows and silver. Smart boys with flashy eye makeup walked down the catwalk to the sound of a very remixed My Sharona. Puffed and padded was the name of this designer’s game, from jackets and coats, to trousers and ear muffs… Just hope my boyfriend doesn’t want one of those jackets for his birthday…
No llegue a Plaza España hasta casi las 20:00, debido a otros compromisos de mi vida diaria. El primer desfile que vi fue el de Juan Antonio Ávalos. Voy a ser un poco escueta a la hora de comentar sobre diseñadores que no me hacen saltar de alegría. La colección de Ávalos esta libremente basada en los viejos dibujos animados Mazinger Z, colores muy vivos: azul eléctricos, rojo tomate, amarillo mostaza y plateado. Los chicos, maquillados con sombra de ojo muy colorido, desfilaron al son de un My Sharona muy mezclada. Tanto las chaquetas y abrigos como pantalones eran acolchados y hinchados, cada look acompañado de unos orejeras. Sólo espero que mi novio no quiera uno de esas chaquetas para su cumpleaños…
The last catwalk show of the evening was Miriam Ponsa. I managed to snag a front row seat, which was definitely a plus. Miriam Ponsa comes from a family that has a long history in textil tradition, so she does have a little advantage and it was obvious just seeing her creations. Her collection is named “Social Textures” and textures was what it was all about. Overlaying different materials, she created depth and different styles of movement with each of her pieces. The colours were subdued: different shades of black, cloudy greys, moss greens and off-whites.
El último desfile de la tarde fue de Miriam Ponsa. Conseguí un asiento en primera fila que fue de gran ventaja. Miriam proviene de una familia con una larga tradición dentro de ámbito textil, otorgando una pequeña ventaja que se ve claramente en sus diseños. “Texturas Sociales”, así se llama su colección y ciertamente se trataba de texturas. A través de la superposición de diferentes tejidos, consiguió profundidad y diferentes estilos de movimiento en cada una de sus piezas. Los colores eran tenues: diferentes tonos de negro, grises nublados, verde musgo y blancos rotos.
I especially liked the luggage that some of the models were lugging down the catwalk. Very in tune with the social textures that one weaves when travelling, the luggage we accumulate throughout the years.
A destacar, me gustó las maletas viejas que algunas de las modelos llevaban sobre la pasarela. Muy acorde con el concepto de Miriam de las texturas sociales que uno va tejiendo cuando viaja, el equipaje que acumulamos a través de los años.
The photocall moments are always great fun, a lot of jostling for space to get a great picture. It is always a pleasure to see Spanish models that have recently had a fair amount of success on the international scenes, such as Marina Perez.
El momento photo call siempre es de gran diversión, todos empujando para conseguir la mejor foto posible. Siempre es un placer ver a las modelos españolas que han tenido éxito últimamente sobre las pasarelas internacionales, como por ejemplo Marina Pérez.

oooh, no llegaste a ver a Bibian Blue? He visto ya algunas fotillos en blogs y creo que fue alucinante lo que sacó a la pasarela!

Guapa! Sí estaba en el rodaje para la cabecera Paramount. Ojala hubiera podido ver a Bibian.
