This past Wednesday, December 2nd, was full moon in Barcelona. This can mean several things, but in this case, fantastic street festivities along Calle Luna. In other words, full moon party on Moon Street. The short street is located in Raval, quite near to the Mercado Sant Antonio. The stores stay open longer than usual, there is music in the air, drinks flow freely and different types of art-in-progress are all available to enjoy.
It is well-worth a walk down this street as it is filled with small and curious shops. The atmosphere was lively yet very relaxed. It is interesting to see how the different stores organize themselves and work in perfect harmony to create a diversified evening.
The different, improvised art installations were quite impressive. Ranging from cute and basic to really quite elaborate, it was obvious that care and attention had been injected into the event. Which is exactly what makes it so much fun.
The stellar point of the evening was discovering the most perfect antiques shop. The prices vary greatly, from the cheap and kitsch to more expensive pieces. Beautifully set up, this shop is going to be one of my favorites.
From old bottles to suitcases, wall hangings to costume jewellery, this is a treasure trove in its own right. Absolutely breathtaking, the store is organized in such a way that it seems to be part of someone’s private home. There is a lovely secretiveness in the air. A definite must. I just wish there would be a full moon more often!
