Le Cucine Mandarosso is one of the best Italian restaurants in Barcelona, without a doubt. Run entirely by Italians, this is an intimate place located near the Palau de la Música. Specialty ingredients are brought over from Italy and the rest is sourced from local markets, making for an excellent eating experience.

Lovely brick walls, warm lighting, soaring ceilings, mismatched furniture, every detail seems to have been placed with happy-go-lucky abandon. The staff are brilliant, attentive and very honest in their recommendations.

Amongst various bowls containing candy lives a goldfish which surveys the enchanted diners. The midday menu is excellent, at 10 euros per head; it includes a big main dish, drinks, dessert and coffee. The perfect amount of food for lunchtime.

Unfortunately, I have no photos of the food! Every time I have been there, I make serious mental notes to remember to photograph the dishes but to no avail. Once the food is upon the table, all thoughts fly out of my head. I can only think about eating the delicious oven baked pasta. I don’t even remember when the dessert arrives. Everything is home-made and absolutely scrumptious. So this time, you’ll just have to take my word and try Le Cucine Mandarosso for yourselves!

“Le Cucine Mandarosso is the best Italian restaurant in Barcelona, without a doubt”

Please, let’s be a litle bit more accurate. Cucine Mandarosso might not be a bad Italian Restaurant, ok. Quite slow service but if talking about food, being quite alright (depending on what you’re ordering, tho).

But THE BEST??? You should sample many other Italian restaurants in the city. You’d then understand that this is a restaurant that can’t go beyond a 5 or barely a 6/10 mark.

As said, this is not what we could call a bad place. But can’t be compared to De Gustibus Italiae, Massimo, Xemei or the 100% authentic napolitan Il Golfo di Napoli, just to name a few.

    All the best.

    Hi Vera,

Thank you for introducing us to this wonderful restaurant. We went for lunch today, and my Mum said it was the best pasta dish she has ever eaten. It is a fabulous place with wonderful atmosphere and great staff. The dish that my Mum had was recommended by our waitress and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

I love your blog and have also vistited Federal and Lolita Bakery, all thanks to you.

    Hello Claire.

I’m so glad that you liked Le Cucine. I agree with your Mom that their pasta is the best I’ve ever eaten. The owners are great, I recently did a fashion shoot there and it will be appearing in a magazine this month. I’ll be posting photos.

Glad you liked Federal and Lolita also. Thanks for your positive comments!
