This past Saturday 7th was the first edition of Dress Up. A showroom style event to showcase new designers. Six new creators gathered together in a great location in Borne. Composed of Amimanera, Elena Gallego, Georgina Vendrell, My Grandmother’s Sofa, Nerea Lurgain and Sugar Rush.

I was happily surprised to find Dress Up absolutely packed! The space they are using is very beautiful, all old brick, white-washed walls, soaring arches and quirky touches, like the religious icons tucked away into various spaces. I found the glass ceiling to be a very nice touch, it was possible to see bikes and plants, which I suppose was someone’s house…

There was small exhibition of the illustrator Agustina Guerrero. I find her work to be deliciously innocent, opening a precise and cute world where her characters have attitude rushing out of each drawing. There was the possibility to play dress-up with cut-outs of the different designers’ outfits. Who hasn’t played with cut-out clothing when they were small girls?

A interesting mix of styles and designers, each with their own personal space to show their wares. Love and care are stitched into each item of clothing, their enthusiasm is evident. I have to admit that I’m still a bit biased and found that I still prefer Sugar Rush’s perfect mix of kitsch flowers and bizarre elements to be the absolute best!

There was even time for champagne and a performance by the various designers. In the space of a few minutes, they cut up several pieces of clothing and produced new, customized items, sewing machines working away like mad!

This is one event that I’ll be going back. The following Saturdays 14th and 28 th of November, the showroom will be open from 12 noon to 21pm. The exact address is Calle Corretgers 5, the nearest metro stop is Jaume I. An all-round good starting point and I wish all of them the best of luck in everything they all do!
