This past weekend, (24th and 25th of October), was the 15th edition of Pulgas Mix. Evoking the sensations of flea markets around the world, the event is a platform for young designers to show off their goods in a relaxed atmosphere. This time around, the market was held at the Sant Agusti Convent in Borne. All types of activities were planned during the two days such as different DJs, workshops and cinema projections, to name just a few. The atmosphere is festive and there are usually a good amount of visitors during the two days.

Mariscal Sketches Party
I was invited to the launch party of Mariscal’s new book Sketches this past Friday at Palo Alto. A new tome filled with the artist’s drawings over the years. I find his work a bit irritating, but I do believe he has played a very important part in Spanish design and illustration history. Part rebel, part provocative, Mariscal narrates stories through his drawings. Stories that we can all relate to, everyday situations, ingenuity with a naughty twist. He was the person charged with creating the 92′ Barcelona Olympic mascot, Cobi.
Shhhhh – Don’t Tell
Behind the facade of a dry cleaners’ is Barcelona’s newest secret restaurant. Tintoreria Dontell hides a nouvelle cuisine eaterie waiting to be discovered. A play on words, Dontell converts to Don’t Tell. The dry cleaners’ looks licit: washing machines tumbling, clothes hanging on rails, plastic clothes’ bags. Once inside, a modern space opens up, for dining and drinking.
Inamo in London
I’ve had a new post published on the Broad.cat webpage this past week about Inamo restaurant in London. It’s a great audiovisual dining experience not to be missed. Broad.cat is the audiovisual design platform propelled by the art directors and graphic design association of Spain, (ADG-FAD), and Televisió de Catalunya.
The September Issue
How on earth R.J. Cutler managed to film The September Issue is beyond me. Did Anna Wintour contact him? Did he contact her? Who’s idea was this documentary? Is it a tactic to try and clean Anna’s image after the film based on the book “The Devil Wears Prada” shows a fist-of-iron editor? Written by a disgruntled ex-Vogue worker, Lauren Weisberger loosely based her book on working with Anna. I believe that this documentary is the image that Wintour wishes people to see about herself.
