Modafad 28th Edition

The 28th edition of Modafad was held a few days ago on the 4th and 5th of September at it’s usual venue in Plaza del Angels in front of the Macba. Modafad is an association focused on image and fashion, forming part of ADG-FAD, the art directors and graphic designers association in Spain.

Souvenirs

Hands up whoever has bought a souvenir while on holidays. Maybe an ugly one, maybe a kitschy one, maybe something that you thought looked kinda cool in the shop and then looked awful once you got home. What attracts us to buying mementos of our holidays? Is it to remind us of the good time that we had? To remember a specific place, moment or country? To smile every time that we look at the object because there’s life outside of the usual grind of going to work everyday?

Banksy invades Bristol

Street artist Banksy converts breaking the rules into an art form. Last October 2008, the director of Bristol Museum, Kate Brindley, was contacted by Banksy’s agents, with the idea to offer up a “remix” of the museum’s collection by adding up to 100 pieces of original work. Banksy wanted to give something back to the city where he grew up and where his first art stencils appeared.

Are they pulling our leg here? Life in Vienna

I was able to get away to Vienna this August for holidays to visit some friends who have a great theatre company since 2007: Not Found Yet Theatre. It’s always great to go to a new city for the first time, the anticipation and excitement of discovering fresh places and sensations. It’s even better if you have friends living at your chosen destination as you get a broader view of the country.
